Hello, all.
So, listening to the song "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," I wonder, do you think it's about Brian?
I always have, but a part of me says that's because I so badly want John to have written a song about Brian.
If you swich the "she's" to "he's", it seems to fit perfectly. But generally with song lyrics I go with the "cigar is just a cigar" approach.
Any thoughts?

Personally I have always thought that Hide Your Love Away was written for Bri. It is also about the same time Brian got involved with Dizz. I always seem to get my arse in a pickle when I say anything about the Bri and John thing) when on this web site...any how I think that it is true. Also maybe written for Bri................... Baby Your a Rich man ...also In My Life....being "In My Life I Love You More" I think John did alot of writing it the first person to those he loved most.

Very possible, even probable ~ and personally, I think so, too ~ but, until somebody comes up with an actual documented admission from a Beatle, it's still merely an educated guess. That goes for ANY Beatle song that people blithely assume for sure were written for/about Brian...because no Beatle has ever out-and-out acknowledged it! There IS one where he was mentioned by name ~ in the first drafts of George's song "The Art of Dying" ~ "There'll come a time when all of us must leave here, then nothing Mr Epstein can do will keep me here with you" ... then he changed it to "Sister Mary" ~ which makes no sense whatsoever to me. Because, the standard of authority for the cohesive Beatles WAS Mr Epstein. But that was the only (officially published, non-bootleg) song where he's mentioned on purpose, or where there is proof (at least in the first version, in Harrison's own "handwroter").

I will have to get hold of a copy of that George song...can you tell me what album it was on? Your right the change of lyrics is odd. Now as far as Baby Your A Rich Man... Brian was known to keep monies from the tours in a brown paper bag. (Smart man I must say other wise be taxed to death.) The lyrics are "You keep all your money in a big brown bag." Also some say John changed the songs words to Baby your a rich man Baby your a rich fag jew. (Pretty typical Lennon I must say) I listened to it many times and it is really hard to tell.\Plus Brian was surly one of the BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!!!!
