CHICAGO, IL--(MARKET WIRE)--Sep 17, 2008 -- The online news site, WeSay.com, today published a series of previously unreleased Beatles photographs from a concert in Cincinnati, Ohio held in 1966.
The photographs were taken by Gorden Baer, a photographer for the now closed Cincinnati Post. Baer was on assignment to cover the Beatles during their sold-out concert at Crosley Field, but the show was canceled due to thunderstorms.
Determined to get the best photos of the Fab Four, Baer jumped into a waiting limo at the airport and snapped the rare photograph of all four members at they climbed into the car.
"The limo photograph came about as a coincidence," Baer told WeSay.com. "I was trying to get the perfect photograph with all four of them together and I felt that the limo offered the perfect opportunity."
Other unseen photographs include images of the group exiting an American Airlines jet. Baer had forgotten about the photograph until recently when he was sorting through some old film negatives.
The following morning, Baer photographed the Beatles' rescheduled performance before a surprisingly small crowd. Those photographs were published in various newspapers, including The Post.
The photographer, who worked at The Cincinnati Post and Times-Star from 1966 to 1971, now operates as a freelance photographer in Cincinnati. He is a member of the Cincinnati Professional Journalism Hall of Fame.
