Gerry Marsden (of the Pacemakers) remembers Brian before he took on the Beatles. This part made me LOL ~ "all these strange records." Remember, Brian was into classical, jazz and show tunes only! Gerry spoke with "The Guide" Entertainment Reporter, Ian Ray. IAN: What are your memories of Brain (sic) Epstein (also famously The Beatles' manager).GERRY: "I met Brian when he sold records in his father's shop. I used to buy Fats Domino and Jerry Lee Lewis records, and he'd ask why I was buying all these strange records. Then, while we were in Hamburg, he went down to the Cavern and saw The Beatles, and when we came back he said he wanted to get involved. He was a gentleman, with great charisma." Thanks for the post. I have been wanting to put up a post but glad you had posted something about Gerry Marsden. In addition to your post, here is a recent post of rare footage of Brian Epstein introducing Gerry and The Pacemakers singing, "I'll Be There," on Hullabaloo. It is not the best recording but it does show Brian Epstein. Enjoy! Brian Epstein introducing Gerry and The Pacemakers for the first time to U.S. audiences (4.26 minutes). youtube.com/watch?v=DCPu12VvzCA

That vid comes from the 3-DVD Hullabaloo Show set. Each DVD is two-sided! I can't believe how expensive they have gotten, too. I bought mine a few years ago for less than $12 apiece on Half.com.
