From a Liverpool Echo column entitled, " Not always easy reading - but essential reading!" (About 2/3 of the way down the article) Thursday, February 14, 2008T. J. Churchill from L19 ... agrees with Mr Makin’s stance on a planned statue for Brian Epstein ( ECHO February 4). “Mr Rex Makin is right when he says there should not be a statue to Mr Brian Epstein, and wrong, when he says Mr Epstein made the Beatles, he didn’t open any doors for them, they kicked them in, and he just went with the flow. “They would have done what they did, with him, or without him. “Statues should only be erected to true heroes, people who have worked for the betterment of their fellows and seek no glory nor reward.” As regular readers will know Rex Makin was admitted to hospital earlier this week after a fall. We wish him a speedy recovery. Rex Makin
