Hold on, tiger. It's true that he is a man of 100 faces, and is wickedly talented, BUT Epstein had an elegance, a charm, that I'm not sure he can emulate.

Posted by eppylover(11/11/06 3:32 pm) Sascha Cohen, eh? OMG, that amuses me far more than it should. And intrigues me beyond all reason and logic. What would our Mr. Cohen think about gaining some weight and having those 'brows drastically shaped? How's his Scouse-morphed-to-cultivated-aristocratic accent? Nat Weiss claims that Brian had a VERY iconoclastic, self-effacing sense of humour. Hey, that part Mr. Cohen could handle. And that's the part of his character that's sorely lacking in all other portrayals of Bri. However, could Sascha depict the pompous and arrogant side of Brian without making it seem satirical? Would the public accept Mr. Cohen's departure from his famous stereotype, or would they be unable to watch him play Brian without constantly expecting him to suddenly break into a "Borat"...? Does he have the respect for Brian Epstein that would preclude his overpowering the subtleties of the character? There's a lot of Andy Kaufman in Sascha Cohen which is awesome in itself ... but might be disasterous to this project. Or maybe not. Maybe... (seeing as Brian's humour is the missing factor in everything about him I've ever seen or read)... maybe this actor ... or another mainly comedic actor ... should be considered. I am sooooo sick of the "pathetic poignant pitiful pervert" image that's been built around him. Yay sacbab... that's what's called thinkin' outside the box!

Sacha Baron Cohen may do a fantastic job. I looooooooove him as an actor, and what little seriousness he had to play in Sweeney Todd was just incredible. He really is a great actor.

You know, I kind of do like the idea of Sacha Baron Cohen cast as Brian... that would be interesting. He really surprised me in Sweeney Todd; I didn't really pay attention to him that much before, what with all his Borat and Ali G stuff... but he's really diverse an actor; and I think he could pull this film off!
Out of all of these, I think I can really picture Cohen playing the part.
