A member of LJ's Beatlepics Community bought the game, and says it's quite disappointing when compared with other Monopoly sets. "I have it ... it's worth it only because its Beatles. It's not that well done, Idk, I just think it could've been way better." I let them know it's a drag that Brian isn't a main part of the game. Read my admonition (scroll way down into the comments). Everyone IN THE KNOW is aware that Eppy was THE MAIN REASON the Fabs were able to virtually MONOPOLIZE the swinging sixties! Just another piece of proof that we need this movie made, and made to show Brian was THE man.

I also bought the Beatles Monopoly game but decided not to open it, as I want to keep it intact as a collector's item. I think it may be worth more someday decades from now LOL unopened. Who knows? I may buy myself another one for entertainment. I am thinking of getting more for members of my family.
Yes, I know, Brian had been left out; but the makers of this game were thinking mainly Beatles. Come to think of it, if a Brian figure game piece were added to the set, it would have been a very HOT item. Brian figures don't come easy. It is EXTREMELY rare.

I looked at the game on Amazon, and it's about $30! Of course I want one myself, and I'm sure will be imputing my order info very soon. Companies just know how to 'suckers' us in sometimes - don't they? Whoever gets the game first; please let us in on all the facts. Yerblues; thanks for those images of the board & pieces. After converting to 'Eppyism," I will further be irked if Brian isn't mentioned even a little. Hopefully; he's at least on a community chest/chance card, right?

Hopefully he's at least on a community chest/chance card, right? You would think. But I would doubt. From what the BeatlePics members who own the game say, Brian is less than a Nowhere Man in that game. For me, thinking anything Beatle without Brian totally included is abnormal. Even as a 14-15 year old, when my pal Karin would make her Remco Beatle figures "talk" to each other (we all had sets) I was ordered to be "stuck" with Ringo. However, I insisted that my most important one be Brian. I believe this action-figure goofiness went on for more than a year! We had at least four sets of "guys" between us (we may have had two sets apiece). Brian was "played by" either my Paul or the George figure. Eventually all our "extra guys" became Neil, Mal, G.Martin, Cyn, Pattie, Mo, Jane, etc..... in fact, I made up a fictional character for my John figure named "Winston" who was a real dorky geeky professor-type (every time someone said something, he had to look it up in his reference books, and quote it with page number and all, which drove everyone up the wall)(the eppylover has never been easy to live with, hahaa)... so Lez created a little sister for Paul named Paulyn. I remember several times Paulyn ended up messing around with John, and my Brian would be constantly running in and throwing her across the room or out the window! LOL those were the days my friend! (Yes, the instruments are detachable)

GAME ON WITH THE BEATLES' MONOPOLY spinner.com Posted by David Chiu on Oct 24th 2008 10:00AM Ever wondered what it would be like to play Monopoly in a Beatles world? Now you don't have to anymore: Games manufacturer USAopoly has just recently put out Monopoly: The Beatles Collector's Edition, the latest version of the popular board game with a Fab Four twist. "It's a game designed for the Beatles fan specifically," says Maggie Matthews, USAopoly's Vice President of Marketing, to Spinner, "and we think it's a fun addition to that fan's memorabilia collection." According to the product description, the goal here is to gives fans "the opportunity to create their own private anthology by collecting Beatles albums." Properties on the game board include every Beatles album released during the Fab Four's time together, from 'Please Please Me' to 'Abbey Road'; the spots where "income" and "luxury tax" are usually on the original game are now represented by the songs 'Taxman' and 'Ticket to Ride,' respectively. And the pewter tokens are shaped to represent references to Beatles songs including a hammer (from 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer'), a walrus ('I Am the Walrus') and a strawberry ('Strawberry Fields Forever'). Longtime players will notice one difference with this version from the original game: there is no money but rather "love," as in "The love you take is equal to the love you make," (a reference to the 1969 Beatles song 'The End'), says the product description. The idea of a Beatles take on Monopoly began a few years when USAopoloy, which manufactures specialty versions of the original board game, got a license to produce Beatles' collector puzzles. "As we considered the many excellent images available to us for puzzles," says Matthews, "we could imagine how great a Monopoly game could be." The Beatles game involved the input of several of USAopoly's employees who are also fans of the group, according to Matthews. "We [also] consulted with an array of Beatles fans outside the company," she says, "to create what we hope is the most compelling execution of the game -- while staying within certain parameters that Hasbro [which holds the trademarks to Monopoly] requires, such as leaving the four corner squares of the original game board untouched ['GO,' 'In Jail/Just Visiting,' 'Free Parking,' 'Go to Jail']." Asked about the response from the Beatles' Apple Corps, which approved and licensed the game, Matthews says, "We've been told that they are very pleased with the outcome!" www.spinner.com/2008/10/24/game-on-with-the-beatles-monopoly/

FAB FAN CHRISTMAS WISH-LIST: BEATLES MONOPOLY GAME whatgoeson.com Posted by Dave Haber Monday, 11/17/08 7:56 pm Earlier this month it was announced that the Beatles would be coming to the Rock Band video game. This was great news for younger Beatles fans, but for people who grew up listening to the Beatles, there's also a Beatles game that's a little more traditional. The Beatles Collector's Edition of Monopoly is like the Monopoly board game you know, love and remember, except in this one, instead of building a financial and real estate empire, you build your own musical anthology by collecting all the Beatles albums from Please, Please Me through Let It Be. The six collectible pewter tokens: Octopus's Garden, Here Comes The Sun, I Am The Walrus, Strawberry Fields Forever, Rocky Raccoon, and Maxwell's Silver Hammer. Players travel around the board with six collectable pewter tokens created especially for this version of the game. In the Beatles edition, the Community Chest and Chance cards are now called Beatlemania and The Fab Four. Concert tickets like Shea Stadium and Candlestick Park replace the traditional railroads. Whoever has collected all the albums after everyone has gone bankrupt wins! The Beatles Collector's Edition of Monopoly, the first board game ever licensed by the Beatles, is available at Barnes & Noble, JC Penny, Borders and Amazon.com. www.whatgoeson.com/blog/the-beatles/200811171956/fab-fan-christmas-wishlist-beatles-monopoly-game.html
