Lyrics: What about Brian Epstein and his brother Sam? They was workin' in a coal mine doing what I am. And what about brother Andy, he's shuttin' down the fire. But if you tell the Tom about his brother Sam, wah dap, a wah dap bop.... Wah dup a ba ba bow, about his brother Clyde, he's a dirty old man.
Well what about Brian Epstein, he's god damned in the jail. He's working in the coal mine sittin' dead as a fail (?). His mother got a queenie. Well, she's the queen of them all. Click for Brian Epstein Blues 187.1 KB mp3 at megaupload site
Listening to this studio outtake, I'm not certain what John's intentions were. What I am sure of, however, is that this piece of crap music is definitely not a tribute.
Recorded July 19, 1968 ~ not even one year after his death ~ it is fated to stand as the only song any Beatle ever wrote referring to Brian Epstein by name. Sad.
If Paul or Ringo have any balls at all, they would correct this discrepancy, and record a REAL tribute, actually mentioning his name ~ not another one of these obscure, esoteric references such as "Hide Your Love Away" and "Baby, You're A Rich Man," etc.
As much as Brian loved John ~
(and as much as John said, immediately after Brian's death, that Brian was lovable -- direct quote)
~ nevertheless, Lennon broke my heart with Brian Epstein Blues. *sigh* Here's the BootlegZone page covering this outtake, containing references to the numerous boot albums where this cut can be located.

Thank you for the great post, Eppylover. This song was unknown to me, possibly because it was bootlegged--one of the rare Beatles recordings.
I tried to find a download of the song through LimeWire but there none to be found. However, I did find a few uploads of the "Brian Epstein Blues" on YouTube posted by neckomitchoshie and BenefitOfMrKite.

That's quite all right Eppylover. That's what happens when too much is going on in the head.
BTW, I did try to find the Spanish version of The Brian Epstein story some time ago that was previously uploaded on YouTube. Alas! It appears to be gone! (probably removed due to copyright infringement). I tried searching for it two weeks ago and still don't see it. Maybe it will be relocated somewhere else?
