Hard Days Night Hotel will host an exclusive day packed with “fab four” musical entertainment for hotel guests and visitors to commemorate Liverpool ’s first ever Beatles Day. This will take place on Thursday, July 10th from midday. Hard Days Night Hotel's Zygmant Suite will be specially transformed to showcase a diverse range of musicians from the ‘Mersey Beatles’ to Chris Finlay of ‘Gerry and the Pacemakers’ all of whom will perform at the event. Entry to Beatles Day is free up until 4pm and £10 per ticket after this time. Julia Baird, half sister of John Lennon will be attending the Beatles Day at the hotel.

Limited tickets are on sale to the public and are available on the door on the day. For those wishing to stay at the hotel they can take advantage of a special preferential rate of £150 bed and breakfast that includes two tickets to the event. Beatles Day is the first of what is hoping to be an annual event and takes place on 10 July; the anniversary of the day that the Beatles returned to Liverpool after conquering America.




Mike Dewey, general manager for Hard Days Night Hotel, said: “As Liverpool’s only Beatles inspired hotel, this is a great opportunity to participate in an iconic day for Liverpool with local bands and celebrities. It is certain to be a sure-fire hit with locals and guests of the hotel.”

TRIBUTE bands will pay homage to the Fab Four from Liverpool’s rooftops during this month’s Beatles Day.





They will recreate the famous January 1969 Savile Row rooftop appearance by singing some of the band’s most famous songs on top of city buildings, including the ECHO Arena.

All-girl Beatle band The Beatelles will perform on the roof of BBC Radio Merseyside.

Other tribute bands will perform at venues across Liverpool during the July 10 festivities.

From 7am to 9am, the Backbeat Beatles will serenade workers on their way to work on the ferry from the Pier Head, as well as youngsters on their way to school.

Later in the morning the band will also perform on top of the World Museum Liverpool steps.

They planned to play on the roof but have been chased off by vicious nesting seagulls.

The Backbeat Beatles’ Chris O’Neill said: “I’m going to be shaking my head like a Beatle all day by the looks of it.

“We’re really excited at the thought of being involved in the first Beatles Day.

“It will go down in history as the day everybody in Liverpool wore a mop top wig, instead of just us Beatles bands for a change.”






From 9am to 6pm the Beatlemaniacs will play live from the top of the Beatles Day bus, which will parade around all the Fab Four hotspots such as Strawberry Field and Penny Lane.

And there will be Beatles bands busking acoustically all day at street entertainment sites throughout the city.

8 days to go to buy your Beatles wig

BEATLES Day is raising money for Alder Hey and the ECHO’s Liverpool Unites campaign.

The event on July 10 marks the 44th anniversary of the band’s triumphant return to Liverpool from America.

And to celebrate, we need everyone in Liverpool to don their own mop top wig.

To buy your own wig, available for £5, you could come along to the ECHO head office in Old Hall Street.

Alternatively, the wigs are stocked in Merseyside Tesco stores; Smiffy’s in Bold Street; Lewis’s; The Imagine Appeal Office at Alder Hey and The Beatles Story in Albert Dock. Liverpool’s three 08 shops and all Merseytravel travel centres are also selling the mop tops.

* The ECHO is also trying to find out Liverpool’s favourite Beatles song.

We’ll be collating all your responses to find the city’s favourite Beatles song with the top numbers all being played at Imagine - The Concert.

Everywhere you looked in Liverpool on Thursday there were Beatles fans, all taking part in the first ever Beatles Day.

Liverpool is celebrating its most famous sons with its first Beatles Day.


The Beatles Day Imagine - The Concert

Tribute bands are performing in the city, beginning with early performances for workers and culminating in a concert at Liverpool Arena.

Performers at the tribute concert include the Backbeat Beatles, Gerry Marsden, Billy Butler, Tony Crane and Billy Kinsley from Merseybeats and Mike Pender from the Searchers.


MERSEY FERRY

Other events include a performance by the Beatelles, an all-girl Beatles tribute band, on the roof of BBC Radio Merseyside and a themed parade past places including Strawberry Fields.

Merseytravel staff, including those on the city's ferry across the Mersey are also being encouraged to wear the wigs.

The day's first ferry passengers, until 0900 BST, were serenaded by tribute bands.

The plans for the regular day were revealed by Liverpool actor Ricky Tomlinson at Alder Hey at a launch day in April.
