No other single stage produces the hits like Ringo's All Starrs, each singularly accomplished in their own right. All of the All Starr artists complement Starr's musical style and share his message of peace and love. As Ringo said in a recent interview, "My live shows are a peace-and-love fest. That's my main promotion, really." Starr's latest album, Liverpool 8, was released on CD, digitally and on USB wristband on January 15 by Capitol/EMI. His most personal release in years, Liverpool 8's songs are a reflective journey through Ringo's storied life and career and feature some of his greatest songwriting to date. Co-produced and co-written with Dave Stewart, Liverpool 8's resounding message of peace and love will continue to resonate with All Starr audiences across the country when Ringo hits the road this summer for his first tour since 2006. Since 1989, Ringo Starr's All Starr tours have rocked sold out venues with great musicians who share Starr's love of performing. All of the All Starrs lend their most popular songs to Ringo's already impressive hit list which includes such classics as "With a Little Help From My Friends," "Yellow Submarine," "Photograph" and "It Don't Come Easy." The tour's 31 U.S. and Canadian dates, booked by Dave Hart at ICM, begin on June 19 at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Purchased my tickets this morning!!! Unfortunately; no seating chart is available yet, so I can't tell exactly where we'll be sitting. I DO know I'll be on the main floor. Ringo was in Lake Tahoe (about an hour from us) about 5 years ago, but I couldn't talk my younger sister into going. This time; he'll only be a 15-minute drive from us. ;D Can't wait until late July; and I will post, after seeing Ringo in person.

Ringo Starr coming to Reno in July By Bruce Dancis - bdancis@sacbee.com Last Updated 10:31 am PDT Monday, April 14, 2008 When Ringo plays Reno on July 25, it will be the closest sighting of a Beatle for Sacramentans this summer. Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band will appear at 8 p.m. in the Reno Ballroom as part of a North American summer tour. For his 10th All Starr tour since 1989, the former Beatles drummer will perform with Colin Hay, Billy Squier, Hamish Stuart, Edgar Winter, Gary Wright and Gregg Bissonette. In January, Starr released "Liverpool 8," his first new album with Capitol/EMI -- the Beatles' label before they formed their own Apple Corps -- since 1974's "Goodnight Vienna." On his tour, Starr is expected to perform songs from his new album, Beatles songs on which he sang the lead vocals ("With a Little Help From My Friends," "Don't Pass Me By," "Yellow Submarine") and solo hits such as "Photograph" and "It Don't Come Easy." Tickets are $95, $80, $70 and $50. They may be purchased by phone at (888) 288-1833, online at www.downtownreno.com or http://www.ticketmaster.com), or at the box offices of Circus Circus, the Eldorado Showroom and the Silver Legacy.

Wow! This is what you'd dream of in a performance!!! I can't count how many concerts I've been to since the fall of 1994 (my first to see The Stones at the Oakland Coliseum). Other artists have included Boston, Fleetwood Mac, John Mellencamp, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, Elton John, Huey Lewis & The News, Genesis, Bruce Springsteen, Rush, and I could go on... As enjoyable as these shows are; my two biggest gripes have to be drunkards & people smoking weed! So; it was a nice change of scene: the Reno Ballroom is just a simple little pavilion. Most folks were just there to have a good time - the audience only being about 2 to 3,000 strong. [glow=red,2,300]Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite[/glow] With a smaller crowd, the performer(s) can really focus on their audience, and the show has a more personal feel. That's what happened last night. A woman toward the back of the auditorium kept shouting "Ringo, we love you!" on occasion. "Yeah; and I love you too, Baby," Ringo kept answering back. My younger sister & I sat in the center section/7th row. These turned out to be some NICE seats (very comfy too). No need to look at the video moniters here! I had spoken to a customer earlier in the day, who was also attending. This gentleman (decked out in his black Abbey Road T-shirt) found me before the show and said, "Boy; you guys really ended up with some 'crappy' seats didn't cha?" I felt bad for the guy, because he was wayyyy... in the back of the theater. Still; I knew he'd be delighted. "It's all in here tonight," as one of the All-Starr band members had said. "There's nothing outside..." The other 6 members: Colin Hay, Billy Squier, Hamish Stuart, Edgar Winter, Gary Wright, and Gregg Bissonette took the stage first, and Ringo followed soon after. He was decked out in blue jeans, black dress jacket, and a black T-shirt, with what looked like a glittery tribal princess. Ringo seems to enjoy 'sparklies.' This performance; in my opinion, DIDN'T in any way focus solely upon Ringo. These guys were all great, and who hasn't enjoyed these hits over the years?!!! Highlights would definitely have to go to Edgar Winter, Billy Squier, and Gary Wright. [glow=red,2,300]Edgar Winter[/glow] "Free Ride" is a 'feel-good' song from beginning to end. I remember it being featured in the opening sequence of the 1990 Mel Gibson movie, Air America. I'd never thought I'd hear it Live. I can't recall if I'd ever heard "Frankenstein" before, but I loved it! He's QUITE impressive when it comes to keyboarding! Winter seems to be an interesting fellow, with his long stringy white hair. I am including a link here, which displays a screen-shot of Edgar. It's difficult to see, but he was wearing some very 'unique' trousers. I heard one lady shout, "Hey; I LOVE your pants!" www.rgj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080726/ENT/80726007&OAS_sitepage=news.rgj.com%2Fbreakingnews[glow=red,2,300]Billy Squier[/glow] Sadly, I only know him from "The Stroke." It came about halfway through the show, and grabbed my attention after a long week of work. My sister commented, "That was pretty sweet!" I hope she walks away with a better appreciation for these guys? I know I have. Squier was wearing an old/worn T-Shirt, which read, "This is where the magic happens." [glow=red,2,300]Gary Wright[/glow] Seemed the most lively & humorous guy in the group, with a tale to tell. "This is my first round with this All-Starr group," Gary said. "I first met Ringo, when we were all working on George Harrison's first solo album. George gave me a book of Indian poems to read, since I was planning on going there with him. Within the book, I discovered the title to my song, "Dream Weaver." Ringo countered with, "That's great Gary, but George Harrison never gave me no DAMN book!... Oh; of course he did, George gave me a truckload of books!" I hadn't heard "Love is Alive" before. My only comment (in addition to Gary being absolutely fabulous!) would be that I hope he decides to become a permanent member of the All-Starrs. I hope Mr. Wright realizes how invaluable he's become? Mr. Colin Hay also entertained us with performances of "Down Under" and "Who Can It Be Now?" They're just all songs you know the lyrics to, and enjoy them again and again. "They may have been done in the '80s, and I hope I'll still be singing them when I'm in my own '80s," Colin said. [glow=red,2,300]***King Richard***[/glow] It was so neat to watch Ringo play drums/back-up for all these guys. He has a tendency to give HUGE smiles and pick out lyrics to sing along with, while he's drumming. My sister made the joke several years ago, "Ringo must bathe & sleep in those sunglasses nowadays." I also wondered what fond memories were inside that head of is? What could he tell us about Paul, John, George, Brian, and others? Some of Ringo's own selections were: "Photograph, Act Naturally, With a Little Help from My Friends, and Yellow Submarine." Everyone went wild over hearing "Yellow Sub." I couldn't believe I was singing along with this man Live, after doing the same as a child, nearly 25-years-ago in rural Northern California. I'll have to tell my childhood friend the whole story. [glow=red,2,300]Tidbits[/glow] I bought myself a white concert shirt, with Ringo pictured, and smaller photos of the band. This XL fit me all right, but this was my second try! The vendor shirts certainly ran very tiny. What I love about the shows is the fact that people show off their colors. One woman was even wearing a home-made (orange sherbet colored) Sgt. Pepper coat. Another guy had a vintage 1995 Anthology T-shirt, with early images of the Fab Four on the front. The printing on the back told me that it was a promotional piece, put out by our local ABC station at that time. I would've LOVED to have been given one of those. With this tour only having 31 dates nationally, I'm grateful that the band chose Reno as one or their stops. I noticed that a lot of folks drove up from the SF Bay Area: so they could gamble, see the show, and have a nice weekend. Since I've missed seeing Paul twice before, I'm considering driving to San Jose, CA, whenever he plans to tour. The crowd what be a lot larger, but he shouldn't be missed (if this is Paul's last tour?). I'm also enclosing another link to an article, which was featured in the Thursday edition of our Reno paper. I apologize; most shows check bags, and won't allow any photography indoors. There were about 10 people in front of me, taking shots with their digitals the whole time! D'oh!!! How are we to know? So; I figure these links are the next best thing. Enjoy, and 'yes,' I will post that "Love" article one of these days. www.rgj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080724/ENT02/807240369/1056/ENT

Silver Legacy 2, Reno, Nevada, Friday, July 25, 2008 Were you here? Hi syelar108. Thank you for the excellent post and your links about the concert! I am glad your group had a great time sitting up close and having a more intimate experience with a great legend. Being in a smaller location is definitely a more personal experience and a better view (without all the noise). Well, YOU FINALLY GOT TO SEE RINGO STARR and now have wonderful Ringo memories! I agree, I hope Ringo does not stop touring. Your next shot now is to see Paul McCartney! BTW, I discovered a few months ago that Ringo Starr's YouTube channel was suddenly shut down. I am not exactly sure what happened, but one YouTube user said that he (or someone associated with Ringo) must have done something illegal to get it shut down. Many of Ringo's fans are hoping his channel will finally get back up again--and I was a subscriber!

I was almost positive you'd send me a reply pretty quick! Hope I covered everything in my post? What did you think about the Reno Gazette reviews? Thanks for sending along the interior Silver Legacy pic. This location (with the mining steeple & lights ) is actually inside the casino itself. They just had a sign up advertising Ringo's date. A huge white dome covers this part of the hotel. Here is a link, which shows an artist's conception of the ballroom. The finished project looks almost identical to this image. The place itself is located only 100 yards from the Silver Legacy's doors. You can see the dome in the background. www.downtownmakeover.com/downtown_reno/Ballroom.aspYes; I'd love to see Paul, if the circumstances permit the trip. He hasn't visited Reno, but I know for a fact that Macca does perform in San Jose. My sister & I saw Genesis there last October. She may not be up for another trip down there (4-5 hours, plus expenses). We'll see. Yeah; some of the angry video game reviewers have had their Youtube accounts hacked, or they've closed them. I saw Mick Jagger when he was only 51, and my dad called him an ol' Grandpa back then. Long live the Stones; as long as they enjoy it and earn plenty $$$ right? Also; thanks for your article on the Beatle 'Day in the Life' photos/lithographs. Those are gorgeous! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to know about Ringo?

Ringo Starr RINGO STARR AND HIS ALL-STARR BAND AT FANTASY SPRINGS TONIGHT The Arizona Republic Larry Rodgers August 1, 2008 Former Beatle Ringo Starr celebrated his 68th birthday this summer, but he looks and sounds the same as he did a decade ago. The Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California near Palm Springs where Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band will perform on Friday, August 1, 2008. The drummer-singer says he sees no end in sight for his music career, as fans of all ages continue to flock to his biannual outings with the ever-evolving All-Starr Band, performing tonight at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band Friends giving Starr a little help on his current tour include fellow classic rockers Billy Squier, Edgar Winter, Gary Wright, Colin Hay of Men At Work and Hamish Stuart of the Average White Band. Each All-Starr plays a personal hit or two and backs Starr on such classics as “Yellow Submarine,” “It Don't Come Easy,” “Act Naturally” and “Photograph.” Question: You had a birthday on July 7. Does 68 feel any different than 48 or 58?Answer: I'll never get older. ... Mentally, I'm 24. I keep myself fit and I think that helps. I have a clean diet, no sugar and stuff like that. I feel really good, and you'd better get your energy up when you're touring. You asked people to say or think “Peace and love” on your birthday. Will the world someday be at peace?I’m optimistic (peace) will be worldwide one day. Peace and love is the only way. Have you considered a more formal role working for peace, perhaps through a United Nations program? That’s a good idea. I haven’t gotten into that. I just feel that you can do what you do. I’m up there (onstage), I’m peace-and-loving and I’m getting a peace-and-love reaction. So it is trickling down. You’ve avoided involvement with politics, and the Beatles were never kind to politicians in their lyrics.I don’t get involved with politicians. In England, all the musicians go to the new prime minister’s home for a big party and then they’re all a bit embarrassed five years later when he’s totally messed up. (Laughs) Politicians ... change, and they change their mind. You’re a key figure in managing the Beatles’ legacy. Are you satisfied with how Apple Corps Ltd. has handled things?Yes, because nothing really goes down unless we know about it. Paul (McCartney) and I listened to every take of the remix of the “Love” show (staged by Cirque de Soleil). It’s not like we give carte blanche to anyone. You’ve said your iPod has Beatles songs on it. Has that type of technology helped to pass the band’s music on to younger listeners? That’s what happens. There are a lot of new bands out there (in which) the kids have listened to lots of stuff. I think the Beatles have lasted because every new band has listened to what we did. ... Kids don’t know us from the mop-top days, they only know us from the sound. You and your wife (actress Barbara Bach) founded the Lotus Foundation, which helps several charities. Has that work become more important as you've grown older?I don't think they started because we got older. We've always done our best to help out many situations, and then we decided to form the Lotus Foundation. We've helped (groups) from WaterAid to some local charity starting up and paying the phone bill. Yoko Ono called when you appeared on “Larry King Live” and sang “Happy Birthday.” Are the days of tension among you, Yoko and Paul gone?Like life, it depends on the day. There's no tension now. She surprised me. Paul gave me a call. We still hang out together when we hang out. But as any family, some days you hang out better than others. Do you plan to perform for many more years?I've got a profession and a career that can go on as long as I can go on. www.mydesert.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080801/LIFESTYLES0101/807310430

The Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, California. RINGO WASN'T THE ONLY STAR DRUMMER AT THE PALACE July 31, 2008 By Rachael Britton For The Advance Ringo Starr wasn't the only musical celebrity to perform to a sold-out crowd last week at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino. As the name of his band inferred, he brought "All Starrs" with him. Billy Squier, Edgar Winter, Colin Hay, Hamish Stuart, and Gary Wright all shined brightly in their own right as they each played their music from their own careers. One played his heart out for all. As the drummer, Gregg Bissonette was the heartbeat of the All Starr Band. When Ringo's agent called Bissonette and asked him to be the drummer for this tour, it took about two seconds for him to answer "Yes!" Bissonette said. When asked how it feels to be the drummer for one of the world's most well-known drummers, he exclaimed that it is "a huge honor to play side by side with my favorite drummer." "When Ringo introduces us, I get tingles. It feels like the first time I saw him perform in Detroit when I was seven years old," Bissonette said. "My father, who was a drummer as well, was playing a gig at a local hotel and there was a commotion in the hall. He asked the concierge what all the fuss was and he was told that the Beatles were staying in the hotel. Master recording studio/tour drummer and solo recording artist, Gregg Bissonette, joined Ringo Starr on stage during the band's current tour across North America. Bissonette has been drumming for more than 30 years and has appeared with Linda Ronstadt, Santana, and Electric Light Orchestra. "The gentleman hooked up my dad with three tickets to their show at the Red Wings Arena and my brother Matt and I saw the show that changed my life." "I am a huge Ringo fan. He has amazing, unique drum parts and I get to play them every night. I am a man living my dream," Bissonette said with a huge grin on his face. The grin never left his face during the two hour concert. As he played while Ringo was singing or sitting next to him on the double drums, Bissonette showed why he was chosen as the tenth All-Starr tour's drummer. Bissonette has been drumming all his life. His father was his first teacher and now Bissonette teaches his two children. He even has a DVD called "Musical Drumming and Different Styles" that continues the tradition of teaching his father began. Bissonette has toured with his brother Matt on bass as support for Ringo's two solo albums, Ringo and the Roundheads in 2003 and the Choose Love tour in 2005. This is his first All-Starr tour. When asked about touring with Ringo, Bissonette again mentioned how incredible it feels. "I would prefer to stay in Los Angeles and do session work as my priorities are my wife and children, but if Ringo calls I am there," Bissonette said. "His tours are first class. If we are in California, we fly in right before the show and fly home right after. I am in my own bed every night. When asked if he likes the large arenas, like Radio City Music Hall that they played a few weeks back, or the smaller outdoor arenas, like the Palace, Bissonette stated that once on stage all of them were simply "in the zone." Bissonette quoted Duke Ellington when he said, "There are two types of music. Good music and bad music. I get to play good music every night." Free Ride, Frankenstein, Land Down Under, Dreamweaver, and Picking Up The Pieces are just some of the songs from the other All-Starrs as well as Yellow Submarine, Boys, Act Naturally, Photographs and A Little Help From My Friends with Ringo singing. "That is the good music that makes this a dream come true," Bissonette said. When asked if there are any more dreams to come, Bissonette credits his faith as his grounding and said, "If I can be the best man, husband, and father and keep playing good music, then my dreams will all come true." www.thelemooreadvance.com/articles/2008/07/31/lifestyle/doc4891e8a61b34e569243887.txt

Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band 2008 (Greek Theater; 6,187 seats; $100 top) Posted: Sun., Aug. 3, 2008, 5:17pm PT variety.com by RICHARD S. GINELL Presented by KLOS. Ringo Starr, Colin Hay, Billy Squier, Hamish Stuart, Edgar Winter, Gary Wright, and Gregg Bissonette. These are photographs of the Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band performing at the Greek Theater, Los Angeles, CA on August 2, 2008, the last stop of the summer tour. Back in 1989, Ringo Starr came up with a great idea: He would be the Ringmaster for a collection of still-agile rock stars performing their old hits and backing those of their colleagues. The band played the Greek Theater that year, and those who saw it savored the moment, wondering if they would ever see the then-elusive ex-Beatle perform again. They needn’t have worried. Sixty-eight years young, slim, trim and fit, Ringo is still on the road — and 19 years and 10 editions later, the All-Starr Band remains a surprisingly sturdy, entertaining vehicle. Ringo Starr and Billy Squier on guitar. While recent All-Starr Bands have been weaker and less starry than the early ones, the 10th edition put on a solidly rocking show at the Greek on Saturday night — and it wasn’t hard to pinpoint where the act had been fine-tuned. Billy Squier and drummer Greg Bissonette. Colin Hay, Hamish Stuart on guitars and Ringo Starr. The pacing was better; the dreary ballad hits that once sapped the momentum between the rockers were gone, and the two-hour-plus set flew by as a result. The stinging fuzz-tone lead guitar of Billy Squier, a holdover from 2006, had an energizing effect upon everyone’s hits. Edgar Winter and Ringo Starr. Colin Hay, returning from the 2003 band, was in stronger form this time in Down Under and Who Can It Be Now. Edgar Winter, another 2006 alum, produced a driving Free Ride and blew Texas R&B alto and tenor saxes to his colleagues’ great benefit. All-Starr newcomer Gary Wright, a youthful 65, scored well with Dream Weaver and Love Is Alive — and Hamish Stuart (from Average White Band) led a straight, tight Pick Up the Pieces. Gregg Bissonette on drums and Gary Wright. Edgar Winter and Colin Hay. Ringo himself has been slowly expanding his repertoire, still relying on the core of Beatles classics (punched out with unjaded enthusiasm) yet keeping the best of his recent songs — the touching George Harrison tribute Never Without You, Memphis in Your Mind, Choose Love — and adding the new autobiographical Liverpool 8 and one hitherto-overlooked solo hit, Oh My My, to the show. And it was a treat to watch the master work his drum kit, for all this touring has made him an even more active, subtle, grooving musician. This tour ends at a time when Ringo Starr CDs have been pouring out like mad — five new releases in the last 16 months, three for Koch and two on Capitol. Although only one, "Liverpool 8," has new studio material, that’s a rate unequaled for the Ringed One since the height of Beatlemania. Ringo Starr's opening song, "It Don't Come Easy." RINGO STARR TAKES SONNET FUSION R400Q ON TOUR broadcastbuyer.com Wed, 5th, Nov 2008 Ringo Starr and his 10th All-Starr band used two Fusion R400Q rackmount storage systems to capture concert audio for their 31-date summer tour, which concluded Aug. 2 at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. The Fusion R400Q yielded unwavering performance over the course of the tour, and its rugged, compact design provided valuable space and weight savings as the show moved from venue to venue across North America. Audio Analysts, a Colorado-based provider of concert touring audio systems, selected and provided the Sonnet Fusion R400Q to the tour. "The R400Q lived up to its reputation as a solid storage solution well-suited to the rigors of tour recording and travel," said Brian Bavido, Front of House engineer for the All-Starr tour. "We covered a lot of ground in the United States and Canada and made our way over many bad roads, and not once did I need to reseat a drive or cable. The system was very transparent on tour, performing without a hitch throughout each show, and its 1U design proved convenient in use while occupying very little rack and transportation space." Along with the former Beatle, the 10th All-Starr ensemble included Colin Hay, Billy Squier, Hamish Stuart, Edgar Winter, Gary Wright, and Gregg Bissonette. These photos were taken by Jessica Cohn, who watched Ringo Starr and his All Starr band perform in Chicago, Illinois on July 13, 2008. The Fusion R400Q systems provided 2TB of mirrored storage for the 64 tracks of audio recorded to a Pro Tools|HD 2 Accel during each All-Starr concert and enabled sound engineers to use Digidesign Virtual Soundcheck workflow to refine live performance console settings by using a multitrack Pro Tools session rather than actual band members. Along with the former Beatle, the 10th All-Starr ensemble included Colin Hay, Billy Squier, Hamish Stuart, Edgar Winter, Gary Wright, and Gregg Bissonette. Audio Analysts recommended the Fusion R400Q for the 10th All-Starr tour, having used the system successfully in previous tours for some of the entertainment industry's best-known talent. In addition to protecting valuable concert audio from the troupe of legendary performers on the All-Starr roster, the Sonnet system recorded sound checks and jam sessions and served as a backup to the main audio truck brought in for the live recording at the Greek Theater. Audio recorded to the Fusion R400Qs will be preserved for archival purposes and also serve as a resource for CDs, DVDs, and Web releases. The Fusion R400Q rackmount storage system offers up to 4TB of storage in four swappable SATA drive modules, supplying speed, versatility, and reliability in a variety of workflows. A high-performance SATA II port multiplier manages the enclosed drives, so Bavido was able to connect each enclosure to the SATA host controller card in his Power Mac G5 system using just a single locking data cable. Because the swappable drive modules are compatible across the Fusion line, and additional modules may be purchased separately, Bavido simply handed the drives over to the band manager at the end of the tour. www.broadcastbuyer.tv/publish/Productions_160/Ringo_Starr_Takes_Sonnet_Fusion_R400Q_On_Tour_18144.shtml
