Click here to watch an interview with Brian in the summer of '64, during the Beatles' first North American tour. The uploader, Tunenito, names the interviewer as Larry Kane ~ but judging from other photos of Kane in the mid-60's, this resembles Mike Wallace (or perhaps a local reporter) more than Larry Kane. You judge. Eppylover note ~ At the same time (1964) that this interview was being taped, everybody (including me) assumed The Beatles would be significant only to our particular generation for a short time just like every other huge "fad." Brian knew differently, he certainly did ~ right from the beginning, when even his own family rolled their eyes at his "bigger than Elvis" claims.
Quote from the above video ~ Larry Kane: There's never been anything quite like the success of The Beatles. How long do you think it will last? Brian Epstein: Oh, this is impossible to say. And it also depends on what you term "success." I think they're going to be successful...for many, many years. But, obviously, it won't be the same KIND of success It's obviously going to be a MATURED kind of success. Brian saw BEYOND the "yeah-yeah-yeahs" where precious few others did.
