LOVE is a 2006 theatrical production by Cirque du Soleil which combines the re-produced and re-imagined music of The Beatles with an interpretive, circus-based artistic and athletic stage performance. A joint venture between Cirque and The Beatles' Apple Corps Ltd, it is the first production that Apple Corps Ltd. has partnered in. LOVE is written and directed by Dominic Champagne. Music directors are Sir George Martin, producer of nearly all of The Beatles' records, and his son, record producer Giles Martin. LOVE plays at a specially-built theater at The Mirage in Las Vegas. HISTORYThe project arose from discussions in 2000 between George Harrison and his friend Guy Laliberte, one of Cirque's founders. Three years of negotiations between surviving members of The Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, The Beatles widows Olivia Harrison (representing George Harrison) and Yoko Ono (representing John Lennon), The Beatles' holding company Apple Corps Ltd. and the MGM Mirage culminated in an agreement. The executive producer was Neil Aspinall, then-manager of Apple Corps Ltd., Dominic Champagne shares the Show Concept Creator credit with Gilles Ste-Croix (a founder of Cirque), who is also credited as the Director of Creation. The Creation Director is Chantal Tremblay. Neil Aspinall, Executive Producer of LOVE. Guy Laliberté Dominic Champagne Gilles Ste-Croix Concept/Guide Writer/Director Director/Creation Tickets went on sale April 19, 2006. Preview performances ran from June 2 to June 29. During these shows, the June 16 and June 17 which were attended by McCartney, changes were made nightly based on audience reaction, cutting or adding sections to add polish. In attendance at the gala opening on June 30 were McCartney, Starr, Ono, Cynthia Lennon, Julian Lennon, Olivia Harrison, Dhani Harrison and Sir George Martin. It was the biggest reunion of The Beatles' 'family' since the band's breakup. At the end of the show, McCartney, Starr, Olivia, Ono and Martin went on stage. McCartney requested an additional cheer from the crowd "for John and George!" Cirque du Soleil - The Beatles LOVE Gala Premiere. (2:22 minutes) www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFepphCTYfYwww.veoh.com/videos/v708750T9c8ftx4STORYLINEThe loose story of the production traces The Beatles’ biography in broad strokes from The Blitz, through the band's founding and climb into superstardom, their psychedelic and spiritual works and their break-up in 1970. The finale is a joyous celebration of The Beatles' "reunion" that the show itself represents. LOVE traces this path without relying on literal or historical representations of individual people. Its landscape is inhabited by fictional characters plucked from The Beatles' lyrics. Sgt. Pepper, a central figure, encounters many familiar faces, including Lucy In The Sky, Eleanor Rigby, Lady Madonna and Mr. Kite. In an exception to this stylistic choice, the Here Comes the Sun scene features a character resembling Krishna. Similarly, several scenes include mop-topped, dark-haired figures in black suits resembling Teddy Boys. The international cast totals 65 performers. Each song or medley is the name of a scene. Also attending the LOVE celebration were Siegried (Fischbacher) and Roy (Horn). Also attending the LOVE celebration were the Lennons, Julian Lennon and Cynthia (Powell) Lennon from John Lennon's first marriage. MUSICUnlike other Cirque productions, which feature live music, LOVE uses prerecorded material from The Beatles catalog. Many of the original Abbey Road Studios recording session tapes have been reorchestrated and inspired LOVE'S dance, acrobatics, as well as visual and theatrical effects. LOVE samples 130 songs to create 27 musical pieces. The songs are mixed so that the lyrics and instrumentation from one song blend into the next. One musical highlight of the show is a new version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, which matches the first studio demo of the song with a string arrangement written for LOVE by Sir George Martin. A commercial soundtrack album of the show was released in November 2006. The LOVE Album interviews. Trailer for The Beatles LOVE Album. (7:18 minutes) www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDVLxMBqVRwTHEATERCreated by French designer Jean Rabasse, the LOVE theater at The Mirage houses 6,341 speakers and 2,013 seats set around a central stage. Each seat is fitted with three speakers, including a pair in the headrest. The sound system was designed by Jonathan Deans. The stage includes nine lifts and eight automated tracks and trolleys. Video images on two walls above the audience on two sides of the auditorium emphasize elements of the show and provide transitions. High-definition projectors also create enormous images (designed by Francis Laporte) on four translucent screens that can be unfurled to divide the auditorium. The LOVE theater, which replaces the Siegfried & Roy theater at The Mirage, is said to have cost more than $100 million. The characters in LOVE cast. Don't mind me, I'm an old lady who is easily put off her pablum by anything that disses or ignores Brian Epstein where SOME reference to him is deserved or indicated. For example, through the years the Beatles have refrained from mentioning Brian in many, many areas where they should have ~ where normally they have given kudos to or told anecdotes about John or George, etc. One glaring example is the Anthology. Most people would not notice, would not even realize, the many places in that book where Brian was right with them and played a big part ~ yet is not even mentioned. It seems that the only places he is written up about in Anthology are places where, if ignored, would be noticed by most people. In that vein, the thing that has pissed me off about Cirque LOVE ever since we first heard about it, is the total brushing-off of the Epstein legacy in the show. Don't tell me that "it's just about the music," and all that garbage, because it's not. Even if it was, we would never have heard the music if not for Eppy. When the Mirage LOVE website first opened, I was sure to send them an email reminding them that Brian Epstein should not be omitted from the show ~ and, if he wasn't mentioned at all, please would they give me a reason why. Their website promised that each email would be answered. I received no answer whatsoever. So much for the great Beatles LOVE. I have not given up hope. Every time somebody I know plans to see the show, I have specifically begged them to watch it with an eye out for any Eppy reference. So far about a half dozen have reported back to me that either, 1.They forgot about it; or 2. they were too engrossed in the spectacle to WANT to pay attention for something like that. Usually before they see the show they act surprised that Eppy might not be mentioned, but after they see it, they don't care if he was or not. One said that she thinks she got a glimpse of someone in a business suit in the background pics flashing by (lame attempt to make me feel better?) Good news is, I have a real live Eppy-loving email pal/LJ flister who has her ticket to see LOVE soon. She's one of the few people like me on earth who loves Brian more than his Boys. Anyway, I just thought I'd put my two cents in. I'm sure it's a beautiful show. But, like anything Beatle-y with no Brian in it, I'm simply not interested/disappointed. Heh, well, like I often say, I must be channelling Queenie. She was never too fond of those four yobbos, but so very proud of what her son did with them.

I got a kick reading your comments Eppylover. You just come out with it. That part I love--no holding back. If you're an old lady, then I'm an old man. Sometimes when I say something with guns and barrel on an issue that is very serious to me, I get backlashed (like on YouTube). I see your point. It is VERY CLEAR that without Brian Epstein, the Beatles would have never amounted to anything beyond Liverpool. It is very true that the world, in general, has forgotten about The Beatles manage,Mr. Epstein. THAT IS WHY WE HAVE TO BRING HIM BACK!!!! The world needs AWARENESS of this movie to honor his legacy. There has to be a lot of publicity. I believe that after the success of this movie, that the industry should be so moved to finally pay tribute to this giant. It's a movie in the making; and when it is finished and released, the world will have a much clearer picture of his life. I feel then the world will truly recognize all his work to bring us The Beatles that it cost him his life. Many honors will be attributed to him.

My Aunt, cousin & I have already booked the show and our flights. We're now just waiting for June to roll around! In regard to the month of June: the Larry King broadcast last year was a wonderful relief. That was during the week when the horrible fire burned part of Lake Tahoe to a crisp. Community residents were very supportive of each other, but seeing Paul, Ringo & the ladies on Larry King made it easier. All we need is love right? I've become more & more excited about seeing 'Love' since then. Yes; I do share Eppylover's disappointment that Brian doesn't appear to be a factor. BTW: thank you for the above comments. I wish I had a T-shirt with Eppy's name & likeness to wear to the show. "All you need is 5; because without the 5th, the other 4 wouldn't exist" right? Who was responsible for that tag-line? I will be dazzled & enjoy myself (no doubt), but Bri. will never be forgotten as an influence. I'll let ya know. Another big thumbs-up to Yerblues for the connections!!!

A big thumbs up to you, too, syelar108! Thanks for the info. I wish you a grand time in Las Vegas with your family watching LOVE. It will be a nice getaway from the usual routine. It seems in recent years the San Bernardino mountains have been a target for arsonists. I have not heard whether they ever caught the guy(s) who have been doing it. I know a girl who recently experienced a bad fire in the Running Springs area. She said she could not go into the area the day of the fire after work. She had to stay at a friend's home until the residents were allowed back. It took a few days. She told me that miraculously her home was untouched. But the surrounding homes were burned. The trail that she liked to walk down was burned. All the trees were gone. She tried not to think about the devastation. She let me know that a few weekends ago, she went out and planted a tree with some of the people there. Not only to bring hope, but she is a big John Denver fan, who was a big nature lover. I hope where you live in Lake Tahoe is much better now. Hey, I just remembered. Bobby Sherman is suppose to be a sheriff in the Big Bear area--remember him? I agree with you--ALL we need is LOVE! Thanks to Brian and The Beatles!!

My aunt bought the 'Love' tickets for all of us as a b-day present to me. I'm a Flag Day girl. We're also hoping to check out The Star Trek Experience while there too. Love in June and Ringo in July. I don't know too much about the Southern Cal. fires, other than what I saw on the news. I have both an uncle & cousin down there; who had to stay in the AC 24/7 while all that was going on. Last I heard the police caught a man, who was hanging out at a community college down there. He had "incriminating" evidence in his vehicle, but I'm not sure if this individual was the arsonist. Sorry to hear about the devastation your friend experienced. Managers from our grocery stores (throughout the district) went up to Lake Tahoe last year. They served as additional staff at our two companion stores in South Lake, while the fire was going on. Our company also set up a donation fund for fire victims. I'm not sure how much $$$ we raised, but I believe quite a bit. Sorry; I have no clue about who Bobby Sherman is; nor where Big Bear is located. You'll have to fill us all in!

I had to re-read your comments earlier and you were talking about "Lake Tahoe." For some reason I was thinking about "Lake Arrowhead" in the San Bernardino County. Sorry about the mix up. Bobby Sherman was a "teen" idol in the mid-60s and was a singer. Among his hit songs were "Julie Do You Love Me?" "Hey, Little Woman." You would recognize him if you saw his picture. There are some clips of him on YouTube. He also use to play Jeremy in the "Here Comes The Brides" TV series. Is your visit to Las Vegas in mid-June? I was wondering because The Fest For Beatles Fans convention will be there from June 29 to July 1. If you are there at that time, take a moment to drop by for a visit. Also, The Star Trek Experience would be a very memorable one. I have not gone to it but I have heard how exciting it is especially when you meet the actors. Your aunt was very kind to buy tickets for everyone to honor your birthday. I wish you a happy birthday, too, and a blast in Las Vegas.

BEATLES INFLUENCE CIRQUE DU SOLEIL SHOW LOVEThe Canadian Press Updated Fri. Apr. 11 2008 10:04 AM ET TORONTO - Montreal producer Martin Bolduc was in Las Vegas in June 2006 when got a phone call from Paul McCartney's publicist, telling him the former Beatle was available for an interview. It was an opportunity that Bolduc and Montreal director Adrian Wills had been praying for during the shooting of pi]All Together Now[/i], a documentary on the making of Cirque du Soleil's celebrated Beatles-inspired Las Vegas show LOVE. The filmmakers were in different cities, they weren't expecting the interview and they had little time to prepare. But as Bolduc puts it - if an ex-Beatle says go, "you've got to be ready." "The PR agent ... for Paul McCartney called me up to say, 'Hey, you want an interview with Paul McCartney? It's tomorrow morning, 10 o'clock,' or something like that, and I'm in Vegas ... Adrian is in Montreal, so I called him up, I said, 'You're on a red-eye flight tonight, you're coming to Vegas,"' Bolduc said Wednesday in an interview ahead of the Hot Docs documentary festival, where the film is having its world premiere. "It was literally, (Wills) got off the plane, got in a taxi, went to the Mirage Hotel, in the room, set up the interview and guess what? We forgot to put the tape in the machine! So we were running all over the place to get the tape but that was that kind of adventure that happened with McCartney." Things worked out and Wills was able to sit down for an intimate chat with McCartney for an hour. He also scored interviews with Ringo Starr, Beatles producer Sir George Martin (sometimes referred to as the fifth Beatle) and his son, Giles, as well as Beatles widows Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono. In addition to those interviews, the film - a co-production of the Beatles company Apple Corps Ltd. and Cirque du Soleil Images - also includes a behind-the-scenes look at the making of LOVE, as well as a glimpse at the process of remastering Beatles songs for the show. "I still have shivers every time I see it," said Bolduc, who works for Cirque du Soleil Images. "It brings back this kind of memory, like, having the privilege to be there." The film shows the input McCartney, Starr, Ono and Harrison had in the Cirque production, and the reactions they and their family had at the opening night of LOVE at the Mirage Hotel in July 2006. Also highlighted is the struggle the LOVE creators - including director Dominic Champagne and Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte - faced in trying to transform the Beatles' career into an acrobatic show while satisfying the interests of all parties. Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison weren't shy in expressing their opinions during rehearsals - at one point Ono calls the Come Together sequence sleazy - and McCartney needed assurances that the show was going to be good. Wills says they didn't feel such pressure while making the film, though. "With a project like this, you'd think that the doors would've been open to us and we would've gone in and been sort of heralded - that didn't happen. And then you would think that they'd be constantly checking our material to see what we'd been getting - that didn't happen either because the doors weren't open to us," he said. "We presented (the film) to Apple and said, 'This is what we think it is, these are the themes, this is the film' ... and they were happy ... for a company that big and that known for control, they were really quite accepting of us and didn't censor us." Wills got the green light to direct the piece in December 2005. He was initially asked to do a one-hour TV show on the making of "Love," but after capturing so much raw emotion between the Fab Four's family members and their interactions with the cast, it was clear it needed to be made into a feature-length documentary. "The father and son theme and the theme of family, I really think that plays through a lot because you've got that with George Harrison's son, Dhani coming, and you can see that feeling that he has towards his father," said Wills, who has directed a variety of film and TV pieces. "We knew it was going to be an interesting story. I don't know if we knew it was going to be as raw and emotional as it became." www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20080411/Soleil_beatles_080411/20080411/

(Love is all you need) She loves you, yeah yeah yeah (Love is all you need) She loves you, yeah yeah yeah (Love is all you need) The Beatles "All You Need Is Love" (3.42 minutes) www.youtube.com/watch?v=4k838r5KTws Interview with George Martin and The Beatles:John - We're sorry about that, but there is plenty of people in England that haven't seen us. Next time we'll do a whole telly (TV) show, and everybody watches at once, through a satellite, that's the only way that everybody could see us. George - It was supposedly the very first satellite hook-up around the world. I don't know how many millions of people, but it was suppose to be some phenomenal amount of people. And it was probably the very earliest technology that enabled that kind of satellite link. George Martin - John wrote "All You Need Is Love" especially for the television show. It was a commission. Brian (Epstein) suddenly whirled in and said: "We are to represent Britain in this round the world hook-up, and you've got to write a song". George - Because of the mood of the time, it seemed to be a great idea to do that song, because while everybody else was showing people knitting in Canada and Irish clog dancers in Venezuela, we thought we will just sing "All You Need Is Love", because it's a kind of subtle bit of PR for God, basically. And, I don't know if the song was written before that, because we were making an album at the time, so there was kind of lots of songs in circulation. Paul may know more about that. Over to you, Paul. Paul - I'm not sure... it was John's song, mainly. I don't' think it was written especially for it, but it was one of the songs we had, and.... i don't know. I should think, George Martin might have a bit better idea on that. It was certainly tailored to it, once we had it. But I've got a feeling it was just one of John's songs that was coming there. We went down to Olympic Studios in Barnes and recorded it... and then it became the song they said: "ah, this is the one we should use". I don't actually think it was written for it. Ringo - Yeah, they wrote it specifically for that, and we all dressed up again, see we were getting to where we love dressing up! And we had another suit, but mine was so bloody heavy. Simon and Marijke from The Fool - that was the company - and I had all this beading on - I was right cut to right now - and it just weighed a ton. It was a fabulous time, musically and spiritually. George Martin - And we had prepared a track, a basic track for the recording, for the television show. But we were going to do a lot live. And there was an orchestra that was live, and the singing was live and the audience and so on. We knew it was to be a live television show. And just.. there was also a camera in the control room, on us doing our bit, and just about 30 seconds to go on the air, there was a phone call. It was the producer of the show on to me, saying "I'm afraid I've lost all contact with the studio. You'll going to relay instructions to them cause we're going on air at any moment now." And I thought, my God, if you're going to make a fool of yourself you mind as well do it properly in front of 200 million people! George - The man upstairs pointed his finger and that's it! We did it, one take. [All You Need Is Love. Our World - Global Satellite Broadcast, June 25, 1967] John - I still believe all you need is love, you know, but I don't believe that just to saying it is gonna do it, you know. I mean, I still believe in the fact that love is what we all need. Ringo - And it was for love! It was for love and bloody peace again. You know, it was a fabulous time. That was it meant to be, that's... you know... I'm getting excited now when I realize that's what it was for. People putting flowers in guns, San Francisco was just exploding. Here was fabulous California, where we are, LA. It was just exciting times. And all for this loving feeling, you know. From The Beatles Anthology Vol. 7. The Making of All You Need Is Love. Ringo Starr joined LOVE’s producers, Sir George Martin, The Beatles’ legendary producer, and his son, music producer Giles Martin, to accept the award for Best Compilation Soundtrack during the live February 10 Grammy telecast from Los Angeles. “The idea for LOVE started with George Harrison talking to Cirque du Soleil,” said George Martin. “We all pay tribute to George, Ringo, Paul and John as the people who are behind this award.” ”The Beatles changed the musical landscape forever, combining great music with eternal human truths, which are as vibrant today as when they were recorded,” said Guy Hands, Chairman of EMI Group. “It is therefore fitting that Sir George Martin and Giles Martin have won these awards in such a milestone year for The Grammys. It’s poetic that the talents of the Beatles, and the work that father and son have done with LOVE continue to ensure this music speaks directly to all generations.” George Martin and Giles Martin worked with the entire archive of Beatles master recordings at Abbey Road Studios to create the soundscape for LOVE. The result is an unprecedented approach to Beatles music for a stage production. Released by Apple Corps Ltd. and distributed by Capitol Records, The Beatles’ LOVE is available in both stereo and 5.1, and is the first Beatles album available in 5.1 surround sound. LOVE’s two Grammy Award wins raise The Beatles’ Grammy count to nine. The Beatles’ seven prior wins include Best New Artist of 1964 and Album of The Year and Best Contemporary Album for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in 1967, which also honored the album’s producer, George Martin. Including LOVE’s awards, Martin has been awarded six Grammys for producing and arranging, including The Who’s Tommy for Best Musical Show Album in 1993 (producer) and the award for Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) for Paul McCartney & Wings’ Live And Let Die in 1973. Cast members from The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil at The Mirage in Las Vegas paid tribute to the Beatles at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards with a special performance. 25 dancers and acrobats performed live to A Day in the Life and in the Grammy finale with Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise), both from the LOVE album. Ringo Starr being interviewed at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards on The Beatles LOVE. CIRQUE DU SOLEIL'S LOVE: DESERVING OF THE TITLETuesday, August 26, 2008; Posted: 1:31 PM broadwayworld.com by Ellen Sterling There cannot be a show anywhere more aptly named than LOVE, the Cirque du Soleil tribute to The Beatles that has been drawing sell-out crowds to Las Vegas' Mirage Hotel and Casino since June 26, 2006. The show uses and interprets the music of the Beatles who thrived in an age of optimism informed by history. Those in the Beatles-boomer generation believed. They believed in the possibility that humanity not only could do better but would do better. They believed people from around the world, from different cultures with differing values, could achieve understanding. They believed peace was possible. Simply (maybe too simply) stated, they believed "all you need is love." The Revolution Lounge at the Mirage Hotel and Casino. And "love" is a commodity that the creative team behind the production possesses in abundance. The show was actually the idea of George Harrison, who suggested to Cirque founder Guy Laliberté when they met at a Formula One race that Cirque work with the Beatles music. Harrison died in 2001, but the idea lived and, in 2004, work began on the show. In addition to the cooperation of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison, Cirque enlisted Sir George Martin and his son Giles. The elder Martin had been the Beatles' producer and for this show remastered the music and threw in audio of the boys talking in the studio. The sound - aided by stereo speakers in each seat - is amazing. (Probably why the CD of LOVE won two Grammy® Awards.) But it's not just the music, it's the staging, the costumes, the effects….it's everything. LOVE is a stunning achievement that, almost, defies description. Beautiful? Yes. Haunting? Yes. Exciting? Yes. You get the point - this is an extraordinary entertainment. The Beatles here are graphically put into context of time and place. The World War into which they were born is so present as to almost be a character. And it should be, as it shaped their world and, thus, their music. Each number lasts about four minutes. The pacing is so that the "what's next" excitement - even when you're watching something wonderful - is constant. There's less of the patented Cirque brand of artistic, "float-through-the-air acrobatics" here. The high-wire work is used as an effective interpretive tool specific to the song where it's used, as in Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds. There's the melancholy of Black Bird and Eleanor Rigby countered by the exuberance of I Wanna Hold Your Hand and the skateboarders performing to Help. The fragility of love is hauntingly evoked in Yesterday and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. The costumes, makeup and effects are dazzling. For example there are sheer scrims on which images are projected, both historic and theatrical. Wisely used, they allow the 2,075-seat theater to seem personal, intimate. This is quite appropriate because, unlike in the way other Cirque shows are viewed - as entertainment about otherworldly matters, the Beatles have a definite frame of reference for most audience members. They know the music, the characters (both real and in the songs) and they know the time frame. Do you have to be a Beatles fan to enjoy LOVE? Absolutely not. The show is a wonder that should be seen just for the dazzling sensory experience. It is truly, remarkably - and in the very best way - on only in Las Vegas experience. If you see nothing else in Las Vegas, please see LOVE. You'll love it. LOVE is performed at the Mirage Hotel and Casino at 7 and 10 pm, Thursday through Monday. Prices range from $102.85 to $165. CIRQUE SLASHES PRICES ON LOVE The Beatles: LOVE Sun Archives By Melissa Arseniuk March 12, 2009 · 9:22 AM While the recession may be bad for business, it sure is great for Cirque du Soleil-loving locals. The latest deep discount to hit Vegas in this tough economic climate is for the Beatles-inspired Cirque du Soleil spectacular, LOVE. While Paul McCartney once sang, You can’t buy me love, Beatles fans obviously have to buy tickets to see LOVE. Thankfully, that price just dropped significantly. Seats to the Fab Four-themed showcase at the Mirage usually range from $99 to $150 apiece, but are being slashed by up to 40% for local residents during the promotion. This is the first time Cirque has discounted tickets to the show since it opened in 2006. “It’s the first time we’ve ever done this,” the show’s public relations manager, Cara Luttrell, said. “It’s a very popular show … (But) we’re finding some of the shows aren’t selling as well in advance as they used to be.” “It’s really a way of taking care of locals on slower dates,” she concluded. LOVE is a unique collaboration between Apple and Cirque Du Soleil celebrating the musical legacy of The Beatles. It is showing exclusively in a custom built theater at The Mirage in Las Vegas with an incredible in-seat and multi-surround sound system. Photo by Yoko Ono Official. While Love is widely believed to be the second best-selling Cirque show, behind O, tickets to the 90-minute showcase have just been slashed to attract local theatergoers and, in the process, fill seats. From March 15 through May 31, locals will enjoy up to 40 percent off the purchase Category 1, 2 or 3 seats. The tickets, which would regularly sell for $99 - $150, range in price from $60 to $90 during the promotion, plus taxes and fees. Residents must call 702-531-3873 to enjoy the discount, and may purchase up to six seats at a time. Valid local ID is required to both book and pick-up the tickets. This announcement comes on the heels of promotions for KÀ, Zumanity, and Mystère, which offered locals Category 2 or 3 tickets for just $49 on select days. (Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at KÀ; Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Mystère, and Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Zumanity.) Without the discounts, the seats ranged from $79 to $129. ( Category 1 tickets for Zumanity were also included in the promotion.) That deal, however, ends Sunday. After that, those with and without local ID can enjoy 25 percent off tickets to Mystère, for performances on March 15 – 18, and 22 – 25. Criss Angel Believe is also offering deep discounts. According to the Luxor box office, students are being given 35 percent off up to two tickets without any day or category restrictions. Unlike most sales, that promotion is slated to run indefinitely. Seniors ages 55+, meanwhile, can get 25 percent off their ticket purchase until May 31. To go find the best deals on Believe, however, ticket buyers need to head online. Angel’s fans are being given 40 percent off all tickets purchased through the magician’s official Web site, www.crissangel.com. Yoko Ono meets the cast of O at The Bellagio Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada. The international cast of world-class acrobats, synchronized swimmers, divers and characters perform in, on, and above water to create a breathtaking experience in a magnificent theatre reminiscent of a European opera house. O performs twice nightly at 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. There are no performances on Mondays and Tuesdays. Photo by Yoko Ono Official. The undisputed champion of the Las Vegas Cirque show circuit, O, is the only show not currently offering deals on tickets. Are the seat sales indicative of a sluggish economy or, worse yet, Vegas’ doomed future? Probably not. Deep discounts are nothing new at Cirque. Mystère, for example, gave locals two-for-one tickets in 2005, and half price seats from Dec. 2006 through Feb. 2007 – long before the word recession was a widely-accepted part of the nation’s economic lexicon. Still, the discounts certainly don’t hurt, and are being welcomed with open arms by increasingly cash-strapped locals and tourists alike. Casino Web sites often offer discounts to their resident shows – Cirque productions and others – that aren’t available over the phone or online. As such, thrifty entertainment lovers should check with individual hotel Web sites before booking their tickets to make sure they get the best deal. www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/culture/2009/mar/12/cirque-slashes-prices-love/

THE BEATLES / CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: ALL TOGETHER NOW - THE MAKING OF LOVE. THIS FILM IS DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF NEIL ASPINALLThis is the All Together Now - The Making of LOVE DVD video that was being sold at the Best Buy stores in October 2008. The complete footage has been uploaded for public viewing. I had purchased the video when it was released but had been too busy to give a review. Here you may decide for yourselves how the show was put together and be embraced by the history in the making of this show. There was a great deal of conscientious effort from both the staff from Cirque du Soleil and Apple Corps. in presenting the LOVE show to truly honor the memory of George Harrison, John Lennon, and Neil Aspinall. Sir George Martin and son Giles Martin also went through tremendous effort in painstakingly using original mastered Beatles tapes from Abbey Road Studios, using one of the most complicated audio systems in the world, and had installed an unprecedented 360-degree sound through 8000 speakers in the LOVE theater.
