Just happened to come across this article about the Liverpool exhibition January 2008 ~

A certain snub came to mind as I read the part that said "the Fab Four's homecoming on July 10th, 1964 to a grand civic reception at the Town Hall" ~~
Hey, wasn't that the occasion where the Boys were escorted up to the Town Hall balcony ~ but unfortunately Brian, who was trailing behind them, had the door shut on him by the doorman ~ and, to his dismay, he was locked out for the entire "balcony scene"..? Or perhaps my memory is faulty ~ I cannot remember the book this comes from, but I do remember reading it somewhere.
When I read the words "Lord Mayor" and "Town Hall" that diss came to mind.
Of course, nobody focusing on strictly Beatle stuff (and that's almost everybody, alas) is going to remember THAT part of the story, are they? Of course not.
And oh crap. Tony effing Barrow. Hmmm, I'll bet, as Brian's legacy becomes more and more popular and respected, he's gonna start being sorry for dissing him too. Y'know, the Beatles themselves just more or less put up with Barrow, so a lot of the sensational crap Barrow is passing on to us turns out to be just Lennon (or the others) pulling his leg ~ because they felt he was "soft" (lame) and never thought of him as "Inner Circle" ~ but they had to put up with him anyway. Now a couple years ago he blathers all this stuff like it's all true (on "The Beatles Biggest Secrets" TV special). Ehh.
