The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson ~ featuring guest Brian Epstein www.megaupload.com/?d=DBMX7LI713,686 KB mp3 file I have also posted this mp3 file as a streaming audio on the MOG music site { HERE }Hear other rare Brian-centric sound bites at mog.com/eppyloverSOMETHING EVEN I DIDN'T KNOW (OR AT LEAST DIDN'T REMEMBER) UNTIL ONLY A MONTH OR SO AGO... On August 21, 1966, during America's petty-minded yet explosive "bigger than Jesus" furor, Brian Epstein was interviewed on The Tonight Show by Johnny Carson himself. This is a treasure, to be sure. I know of no kinescopes that exist ~ but miraculously, some fan seems to have audio-recorded the Brian portion of the show on the very night it aired. By the sound of it, he must have simply held his reel-to-reel's microphone to his TV's speaker. (Cassettes didn't exist yet, at least in general use). Well done ~ you can hear every word, despite the inevitable home-recorded background sound. This audio is on a bootleg album, Lazy Tortoise label, entitled North American Tour Diary August 1966 ~ and you can download Eppy's Tonight Show segment { HERE } or at the beginning of this post. Click for larger image We can listen to this thanks to the webmaster of Six Plus Three. (The original Six Plus Three site on Wordpress has been closed down recently by the usual big shot vindictive gods of censorship and doom ~ but ~ Pssst! As of today you can still access Google's cache of that page, and the numerous Megadownload links on the cached entries are still functional...)

Eppy, Job well done! I know this interview has been on your mind for a long time! Of course; I'm wondering if the interview still exists in visual form? You'd think that ANYTHING with Johnny Carson would be preserved in some way or the other? This interview with Brian brought up two main thoughts: (1) There was so much happening (to Eppy in general) during that month of August. The incident with 'Diz' was the kicker. (2) This segment also suggests to me that Brian would have gone on doing more interviews, and anyone would've been "all ears" to hear it. Let's hope this upcoming movie "Turns the world upside down." ;D Also LOVED the LA radio interview with Pattie. How dare that man change the subject though!!! Boo!!! Anyhow, great ear candy.
